sisters?

                             twins.jpg

My friend, Jamie, adopted her sweet baby girl through the same agency we did  (Heart to Heart Adoptions).  Because of Jamie and her success story, my husband and I chose Heart to Heart, therefore, I have her to thank for helping connect us to Liam and Nadia.  Brehnlee is now 3, but here she is when she was closer to Nadia’s age… sisters, maybe??!!!  (Nadia is on the left… Brehnlee is on the right)

Nadia’s big decision

                         nadias-big-decision.jpg

My friend, Fida, had gorgeous twin boys back in October… and we FINALLY made it out to meet them.  Everyone was “dressed to impress” because you never know… we could be looking at a future Mrs. Sprague!!!  But the big debate is who will Nadia choose?  Will it be Lucas… or Alex???

Joy… x’s 2

                                                dsc04594.jpg

Oftentimes, you hear the phrase “double trouble” spoken over children, and while it’s usually said in good fun, I’m choosing NOT to speak ”double trouble” over my two precious babies.  I like the sound of “double blessing” better.  I guess I’m becoming more and more like my mom everyday.  She was an advocate of speaking encouraging words over people… words of praise… words to build you up rather than tear you down.  That is the kind of mother I want to be to my children as well.

an anniversary in heaven

shaleen28-wedding-pic.jpg  jimmy-and-shaleen-7.jpg

Today would have been my parents 44th wedding anniversary.  The picture on the left was taken on their wedding day, Feb. 17, 1964.  My dad was 19… my mom, just 17.  They got married in the chapel of First United Methodist Church in downtown Franklin.  I think my dad’s parents were the only attendees.  Even though the picture is in black and white, mom told me her dress was bright yellow (her favorite color).  The picture on the right is one of my favorites.  It was taken at a Valentine’s dance.  Thanks, Crista, for taking this photo.  It really captures my mom’s beautiful spirit and my dad’s humor.  Gotta love those eyebrows!

my valentine

Nadia is all decked out in her handkerchief dress made by my friend, Whitney Allen.  She has a store in the mall called “It’s Sew You”.  They have the most adorable little outfits in there.  You should check it out!

what’s for dinner?

You can never teach a man to cook too early!  We were at a birthday party, but Liam was more interested in cooking dinner!

filling daddy’s shoes

                                                dsc04381.jpg

No, Liam’s fro didn’t grow back that quickly… this pix was taken before the monumental 1st haircut, but I thought it was so cute, I wanted to post it.  Liam is filling daddy’s shoes quite well, I thought!

Liam’s 1st Haircut 2.8.08

 dsc04506.jpg    dsc04531.jpg

Liam was 14 months old when he got his 1st haircut.  I didn’t want to cut it off… but it was getting so unmanageable and dredding in the back.  Debbie at Friendz Salon took on the daunting task of cutting the fro!  Liam did so good sitting in that chair!  The girls at Friendz bought him treats and blew bubbles at him while he was getting his hair cut… so he loved that!!  Debbie did a great job… and the shorter hair has certainly made life easier!  Let’s see how long it takes to fro back out!

What a beautiful girl… what a beautiful girl

                                                   dsc04486.jpg

I just feel so completely blessed.  I mean, look at her.  I am so humbled that I was chosen to be Nadia’s mother.  This child is so beautiful and perfect… and that dimple is just awesome!!  You can’t tell it in these photos, but her eyes are actually blue.  Nadia is simply irresistable!
